Since 1992, the Kama Reading Series has been an incredible platform to introduce and connect a community of book lovers and supporters of literacy with the very best of Canadian authors and speakers.

World Literacy Canada is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Kama this year and we invite you to join us for this show stopping series.  Enjoy five nights of readings & compelling conversations with both up-and-coming and well-loved fiction and non-fiction authors, writing on evocative themes.

Meet our Hosts

Canadian author and journalist, John Stackhouse is Senior Vice‐President in the Office of the CEO at Royal Bank of Canada, where he acts as adviser to the executive leadership team and board of directors on economic, political and social affairs, and a champion for the bank on public policy. Before joining RBC, he was editor‐in‐chief of The Globe and Mail, and he was previously the Globe’s business editor, foreign editor and, for seven years, a foreign correspondent based in New Delhi, India. His reporting won five National Newspaper Awards and he has interviewed a host of world leaders, including Vladimir Putin, George W. Bush, the Aga Khan, Aung San Suu Kyi and Benazir Bhutto. His books include Out of PovertyTimbit Nation and the recent title Mass Disruption Thirty Years on the Front Lines of a Media Revolution. We are so proud to call John a longstanding supporter of WLC!

Trailblazer Denise Donlon is long recognized as a Canadian feminist, social activist, broadcaster and corporate leader. Denise Donlon’s recent memoir Fearless As Possible (Under the Circumstances) recounts her incredible, dynamic career, through her time as executive director of CBC Radio, President of Sony Canada, and innovator at MuchMusic where her programming earned audience loyalty and praise. Her book is a candid memoir of one woman’s journey, navigating corporate culture with integrity, responsibility, and an irrepressible passion to be a force for good. We are excited to have her share her experiences with us at Kama 2017!
