Canadian Programs

While the focus of our work is in India and Nepal, we believe that we can only work effectively for social justice by also building on our commitment to full literacy and social justice in our own country, Canada.  By working with children, youth, and the general public at large, our Canadian program focuses on fostering a culture of global citizenship.

Our projects are designed for Canadians to think of themselves as citizens of the world with the ability and responsibility to participate fully and actively in global affairs. We believe that global citizens are ready for the world of opportunities and capable of being inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk takers, while being open minded, reflective and caring. World Literacy Canada participates in local provincial and national literacy coalitions which advocate for improvement of literacy standards across Canada.
