Volunteering is the most fundamental act of citizenship and philanthropy in our society and many of the most vibrant and meaningful organizations in Canada exist thanks only to the commitment and vitality of volunteers.
This is certainly true of World Literacy Canada. Founded by four volunteers, World Literacy Canada was run entirely by a small voluntary group of individuals for the first 12 years of our existence. Over the past five decades WLC has been influenced and shaped by the ideas and hard work of thousands of volunteers. Over 1000 authors, storytellers, musicians, artists and dancers have given their time and talent to WLC events!
Volunteer your time and talent
There are a number of activities you can get involved in depending on your interests and availability. World Literacy Canada organizes special events, fundraisers, information booths, international nights, author dinners, reading series, film series, storytelling and book festivals, children’s camps, writing contests and much more.
Like any voluntary agency, we can put your particular expertise or enthusiasm to good use in almost any area. If you are interested in applying to become a World Literacy Canada volunteer, please forward your resume, availability and interests to firstname.lastname@example.org
