Katie Dunnett's Story

“The Babinks"

As he approached the village, he heard laughter. He dragged his tired body up the small hill to see approximately thirty odd looking creatures dancing around.

One of them caught a glimpse of Matt and stopped dancing. He let out a terrifying shriek that left Matt tumbling to the ground while covering his now broken ear drums. Suddenly they all began to talk amongst themselves. The smallest of the creatures, a little girl, stepped out of the crowd and headed over to Matt. Although she looked different, Matt was not afraid for the unusual creatures had surprisingly friendly faces. She took Matt by the hand and led him over to the rest of the group.

“Blooba-bloop-bla” she said to Matt. “Pardon?” Mat asked “I’m very sorry, but I do not speak…uh…that language”. The little girl nodded her head and walked over to the rest of the group. They stopped talking and listened. “We are the Babinks,” they all said together. “Welcome to our village.” Matt told them about his airship crash landing and that he needed their help to get back into the sky. The Babinks looked at each other and then nodded their heads.

Matt and the Babinks worked on the airship all night. When the sun rose the next morning Matt thanked his new friends and climbed into the airship. “Good bye!” they all said waving, as Matt flew into the sky.

Matt learned a valuable lesson that day. Although others may seem different, we’re really all the same. Good friends come in many shapes and sizes and we should never judge a book by its cover.
