Kevin Southgate's story
"The People of Ernouvio"
Matt started walking over the rocky, hilly ground towards the village. There was a light scent of strawberries in the air. As he approached the village, he read from a sign, that it was called Ernouvio. Suddenly, strange, mystical beings that resembled humans appeared. They had a set of wings coming out of their shoulders, and rainbow-coloured horns sprouting out of their heads. They looked at Matt is if he had just fallen from the sky. (Which he had.)
“Hello, traveler, and welcome to Ernouvio,” spoke a man in a long, flowing, earth coloured robe. “What brings you here?”
“Hi, my ship just crashed and I…”
“Say no more,” interrupted the man. “I will help you fix it!”
“We will too!” agreed some of the citizens.
“How can you people say that?” shouted a woman with long, red hair. “He’s different than us!”
“Hey!” started Matt, before being interrupted by the man.
“Well, we should at least give him the benefit of the doubt!” stated the man.
With that, the gathering set out. After weeks of hard, sweaty work, they finished. On the day of his departure, the whole village came to watch him leave. Everyone, except the woman he had met upon his arrival.
“She, didn’t want to come, she still can’t accept that you’re a nice, honest person,” said a woman.
As Matt was just about to take off, he heard someone shouting at him.
“Wait..It’s me!” said he woman, breathing heavily. “I just wanted to say I’m sorry, I should have accepted you earlier.”
“Apology accepted,” smiled Matt.
And with that, Matt flew into the sky above, and as he was gazing at the stars, he knew he would never forget the people of Ernouvio.
