Write/Right to Read is a national bilingual writing contest creating global citizens in grades 4-6.
This year, the contest theme is based on Deborah Ellis’ book, No Ordinary Day. It encourages children to imagine themselves in a totally different place, and to write creatively about what they’ve learned from that country and its culture.
Judging Criteria: Please consider that the following criteria will be used during the judging of all entries:
- On target – The writing answers the question that was posed.
- Organization – The story progresses through an understandable narrative.
- Uniqueness – The writer has taken a unique approach to the topic.
- Descriptive Language – The writer has effectively described sights, sounds, smells, tastes and feelings.
