Scholarship Program

World Literacy of Canada supports school-going children of all ages through our Scholarship Project. The children who participate in this project live in the slums of Varanasi, India, show enthusiasm for school, and come from poor families who lack the resources to invest in their children's education.  Through a World Literacy of Canada scholarship the cost of their school fees, uniforms, books and other school supplies is covered.  This allows these bright children to attend quality schools (whose cost is higher than the resource-drained government schools most poor children attend), and reduces the likelihood of  their families withdrawing them from school in times of financial crisis.

As most of these children have parents who are poorly educated, or often even completely illiterate, they have no one to help them with their school work at home.  World Literacy of Canada provides a special after-school tutoring programs to all our scholarship children, where they can get the extra help they need in everything from the alphabet to algebra and continue to excel in school.

Our scholarship program changes lives, and opens opportunities  for these children to have a better future.  And you can help!

Be a part of the change:

support a child's education today!

For just $300 per year, you can help us offer a child an education and the hope of a better future.   We will assign your donation to a specific child, and send you annual photographs and updates on their progress.  This is a great way to learn about the very real difference your donation is making in someone's life.
