Women's Literacy Classes
Women’s Literacy Classes
Once we’ve established a women’s group (Mahila Mandal) in a community, we begin providing free adult literacy classes to serve the group’s members, their family and neighbours, many of whom have never received any formal education and thus cannot read, write nor do simple math. These classes – which employ such modest tools as slates and chalk, notebooks and pencils, carpets and tin trunks – take place in a woman’s house or in an outdoor open space.
