International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8th. Since the United Nations declared March 8th International Women’s Day in 1975, people worldwide have gathered to celebrate the day by bringing attention to the strength of women and the discrimination women continue face across the world.
On March 8th, 2013, World Literacy Canada celebrated International Women’s Day in Canada with a party of food, drink, dancing, and a performance by the belly-dancing troupe Tribe MayaFire.
